Global Giving’s flagship year sees £20,000 donated to 21 charities around the world

Guestpost by Robyn McAllister on behalf of the SAGE Connect Group

Earlier this year SAGE UK launched Global Giving, a new scheme which will see £20,000 donated to developmental and educational charities and projects in the developing world each year.  Nominations were open to every member of staff working in the London office and we were overwhelmed by the number we received.  This year, we’ve decide to spread SAGE’s giving amongst the 21 eligible charities and projects nominated, which range from improving the home of three young orphans in Tanzania, to providing pottery equipment for women in Burkina Faso, to supporting bicycle ambulances in sub-Saharan Africa, to buying medical supplies for children in India.

The charities we’ll be supporting this year, with donations ranging from £750- £1000 each, are:

  • Action Village India
  • Komar Pikar Foundation in Cambodia
  • West Bengal Library
  • African Village Support
  • Camp Romania
  •  Child in Need India
  • Cross Cause in Romania
  •  Development Workshop in West Africa
  • Ethiopian Education Foundation
  • Forever Angels Baby Home in Tanzania
  •  Good Earth Trust in Tanzania
  • Grahamstown Hospice in South Africa
  • Heatherdale Children’s Home in South Africa
  • Orchid Project in Africa
  • Pallotti Secondary School in Tanzania
  •  Promoting Equality in African Schools
  •  St Anthony’s Higher Secondary School in India
  •  ThinkTwice in Guatemala
  • Transaid in sub-Saharan Africa
  •  Village Exchange Ghana
  • Women for Women International in Africa.

SAGE’s donation will fund specific projects for each organisation, either partially or in their entirety, and we are delighted that we are able to support such a diverse range of causes through this scheme.  Look out for information on individual charities SAGE supports through Global Giving and other Connect Group schemes throughout the year!
